Originally, two Self Primers were installed in this Paper Recycling Mill but they got continuously plugged and required daily clean out of the priming chamber. The two self primers were then replaced by two of the competitor’s best Chopper pumps. The competitor’s Chopper pumps (one of which you can still see here on the left) plugged less than the Self Primers but as a result of a mechanical seal and oil reservoir being located at the pump’s casing, the chopping action caused so much vibration that life of the mechanical seal was limited to only 3 months. Once the seal failed, the oil reservoir was compromised and subsequently the bearings failed. |
