Position Summary
From our manufacturing plant in Burnaby we ship and receive products around North America. This position provides support to our North American sales team.
Qualifications
We are looking for an eager, conscientious and experienced Shipper / Receiver. We are looking for someone who is safety-minded and takes pride in a job well done. The ideal person for this position is someone who has a common sense approach to their work and who can get along with office and shop staff.
Responsibilities
Shipping / Receiving:
- Pick, pack and crate sales orders to minimize cost, ensure undamaged arrival of goods and timely deliveries
- Complete final inspection prior to shipment as per quality control requirements
- Contact specialized carriers and, if necessary, negotiate prices and timely pickups
- Receive all incoming goods
- Number or mark components as required with part no., drawing no., and job no.
- Order crates, cartons, pallets & shipping supplies as required and appropriate to component and freight-truck size through purchasing
- Match incoming goods to packing slips & receiving lists
- Operate forklift in safe manner for moving and storing goods
Documentation:
- Provide weekly summary report of weeks activities to Supervisor at the end of each week
- Handle customs, shipment questions and paperwork for shipments between Canada and the USA
- Follow company procedures for internal logging and tracking of received items
- Generate accurate computer documents: Custom/Shipping labels
- Enter received goods into purchase order/receipt software program

Application Engineer

Position Summary
The Application Engineer is a trouble shooter, customer service specialist with a technical mind and a strong capacity to communicate with customers all over North America.
Qualifications
The successful candidates possess exceptional abilities to communicate in English both on the phone and in person. He/She possess training as a Mechanical Technologist, Mechanical Engineer and/or have experience working with industrial pumps.
The ideal individual is someone who thinks outside the box, can work within an existing and effective sales team and who is wiling to take initiative. The ideal candidate will also have the ability to think a number of steps ahead of the dialogue. This position requires a sharp thinker, who can fit with both office and shop teams. This individual will be the face of the company on the phone, in person, and possibly, in the field.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to Sales Department and to our Customer / Distributor / Agent’s by providing timely and accurate response to all inquiries
- Prepare quotations for product, ensuring proper equipment selection for the specific application
- Demonstrate familiarity with product features and benefits, including the maintenance requirements of our equipment
- Check orders for accuracy against quotation and specifications
- Establish support systems for our outside sales activities through distributor/agents and direct accounts
- Provide on-site field technical support, when requested, to our customers
- Report on distributor/agent quotation activity methods to improve technical support to our sales network, etc, and provide monthly reports
- Suggest opportunities for the expansion of the Company’s market share
- Gather information for the development of maintenance, sales manual, and marketing literature
- Produce technical reports relating to product failure or improvements

Production Engineer

Position Summary
The Production Engineer is the key person for Toyo Pumps North America’s manufacturing activities. This position offers the opportunity to oversee all aspects of the production cycle and requires strong customer service focus, creative problem solving skills and proven ability to motivate staff.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have experience in all aspects of industrial production. The is someone who thinks about quality improvement in creative and innovative ways. The ideal candidate will also have the ability to pay attention to details and see the big picture, at once. This position requires a sharp thinker, who can fit with both office and shop teams and maintains a commercial mindset at all times.
Responsibilities
- Prepares the production schedule, taking into account promised delivery dates, testing requirements, availability of materials and staffing schedules.
- Coordinates production schedule with Sales to ensure customer commitments are met and with Purchasing to ensure just in time delivery of required materials and services.
- Supervises the production team, ensuring efficient utilization of labour and adherence to quality standards.
- Implements improvements to the manufacturing process, focusing on cost reduction, safety enhancement and quality improvement.
- Responsible for the setup of engineering, product performance testing and manufacturing standards.

Design Engineer

Position Summary
The Design Engineer will work directly with the Owner to bring to fruition innovative solutions for Toyo Pumps world wide customer base. This position requires a creative, entrepreneurial, and mechanically minded experienced engineer, who can translate ideas into aesthetic, efficient and functional products.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have industrial design experience and a capacity for aesthetic and functional designs. This position requires a self-starter who enjoys a design challenge and can create designs independently.
Responsibilities
- Study of customer and industry requirements for new products.
- Produce ideas and concepts for original new products.
- Design and develop new products.
- Select field test sites and evaluate product quality and performance.
- Approve engineering changes affecting design, function or performance.
- Assist the senior Engineering management in the day-to-day administration of the Engineering Department which include supervising junior engineers and technicians.
- Assist in managing company patent program.
- Co-operate with sales on new or special product development.
- Prepare accurate technical drawings and layouts via AutoCAD.
- Approve advertising literature etc. for technical accuracy and product liability.
- Establish and maintain engineering procedures and drafting standards.
- Maintain surveillance of adherence to engineering specifications and reports deviations to senior management.
